It has been awhile since I blogged, but what a better way to start up it again than with this La Jolla gem… The Marine Room and Lounge! The Marine Room has been opened since 1941, located on the brink of the San Diego Shore (La Jolla) in California. This place serves fresh seafood with innovative seasonal dishes by executive Chef Bernard Guillas, as well as breathtaking seaside views!

Before I discuss the food, I want to make mention the spectacular views of the ocean. The hubby lucked out and got us a table near window. The views from the restaurant looking out at the ocean during sunset is such a vibe. It was romantic and relaxing, especially when the waves gently crashed against the window.

Appetizers…We loved the golden beet salad! Loved that it was colorful in presentation and all the ingredients just melded well together, especially the goat cheese. It added a nice creamy note to the dish. The lobster bisque flavor was great, creamy, but could have used a little bit more lobster pieces. The cheddar bread was amazing. It had the right amount of cheesy and salty flavor which complimented the soup nicely. My husband wanted more biscuits! 😁

Let’s start with the scallops. My husband ordered this dish because scallops are his favorite fish! The presentation was beautiful. The scallops were cooked perfectly and tender. They melted in your mouth. I ordered the Lobster Thermidor. When I saw the dish, I had to order it! (I always wanted to try a Lobster Thermidor) It was amazing!
The lobster was stuffed with delicious crab, rich in flavor, and beautifully presented. I was very impressed with my Lobster Thermidor.

We were so full with our dishes that we decided to go light on our dessert. We decided to order the Sorbet Trio. It was very light and refreshing! One of the scoops of Gelato was a cactus pear flavor. It was delicate, sweet, with a hint of tartness. I loved the thyme biscuit, as it paired nicely with the Gelatos.

Overall, a great evening at this place! The scenery, the atmosphere, and the food were top notch. The waitstaff was accommodating and super friendly! I would definitely come here if you are in the San Diego/La Holla area. Thank you for reading my review and continue to chomp away!
